Neato Robotics
BOTVAC CONNECTED WEB PROMOS

Neato asked the agency I worked with on this project to create two web promos for their new robot vacuums, botvac D4 connected and botvac D6 connected. The target demo for D6 connected was families with pets and larger homes, while the D4 was aimed at a younger adult demo. Once the agency provided us the treatments, we started location scouting and casting. We managed to keep production limited to two days - one per video. Our talent held blank white boards and we added the messaging in post, and provided the client with a localization kit, to allow for easy translations to any language.

botvac D6 Connected: W.C. Fields famously said, "Never work with children or animals." When we were asked to cast 3 kids and 2 dogs for the D6 video, naturally, we jumped at the opportunity. We casted dogs that can sit and stay as well as any trained actor, but the addition of a robot vacuum to the scene proved challenging... We had a plan in place for this (likely) scenario, and easily fixed it in post. The whole cast, children and animals included, were a delight to work with.

botvac D4 Connected was a breeze to film -aside from the fact that our location's A.C. unit broke right before we rolled camera. Luckily, our makeup artist, Monique Ford was prepared for the challenge. She managed to keep our talent looking like they were in a comfortable 66° home. The whole crew did a wonderful job keeping their cool on a hot set.
